I need a mental health day.

Work has been kicking my butt this week. I was thinking the other day, how this year has turned out far, far, worse than I ever thought possible. And it turns out all this time was just the tip of the iceberg. This week has been some major d-r-a-m-a. I won't post about it here because I do need to maintain some level of confidentiality, but let's just say I am challenged in more ways than one because of this week's incidents.

I am so tired and so done with this year already. Let me move on, please. I need a mental health day.

Weekend Roundup

Friday:
- crazy day at work. week of rain + valentine's day + parent conference schedule = INSANITY
- spent time with one of my bestest gf's from work and her family for her bday. they are too fun!

Saturday:
- woke up early to go see another house. OMG. so awful.
- came home and thought about going to Huntington Gardens but too cold.
- watched some stupid movie with Damon.
- did my weekly cleaning of the bedroom and bathroom, then deep cleaned bedroom #2, hallway, and hallway linen closets. am quite proud of the progress i am making towards new year's resolution -- clean house and keep organized 100% of the house.
- attempted dinner at Di Pilla's but with no reservation ended up at The Hat. chili fries v-day = good. :)

Sunday:
- slept in REALLY late.
- ran errands, grocery shopping, etc.
- Charlie managed to climb up on counter while we were away and eat leftover chili fries from The Hat. worried about his health, but am also sad about loss of said chili fries. :P
- made cherry limeade cupcakes with the sister. yummy cupcakes, but even more fun was the fun we had hanging out.
- dinner with my parents at their house. ditto above comment.
- finish frosting last batch of cupcakes, deep cleaning of "entryway" and living room.

Monday:

Happy Valentine's Day!

Today we're j/having a low-key day at home, but it's nice to snuggle up with hubby and watch a movie. We were thinking about going to Huntington Gardens or something, but between the cold and our exhaustion, staying at home suddenly became the perfect Valentine's Day date.

I really felt the love yesterday, though! Our house is FILLED with flowers - a bouquet from hubby, and 3 huge bouquets from my students, plus candy galore! And the hubs also got a box of yummy Choxie and the Sex and the City movie on DVD. Yay!

Love him today and EVERY day. And so happy I can spend time with him and our little family today. :)

Holiday!

One thing I really hate about this weather is how difficult it makes it to get up in the morning. I used to be out the door by 6:45 and at school by 7, giving me at least an hour every day to clean up, set up, and work on room environment. With the chill in the mornings, though, I'm lucky if I'm up by 6:30. When the alarm rings the only thing I want to do is curl up in the warm bed, and it takes every last ounce of energy I have to actually make the move into the cold to start getting ready. The darkness in the morning is the cherry on top of a sundae I don't want. :P

This week is surely taking a long time to end. I'm exhausted and quite frankly starting to burn out from everything that I've been dealing with at school recently. I'm looking forward to the three-day weekend to recuperate after the parent conference/report card marathon I ran the last few weeks. I'm hoping at some point during the weekend I'll also find the energy and drive for teaching that I've somehow lost along the way to February.

Sleeping in, spending time with Damon and Charlie, finishing a book and taking in some crafting -- things I want to do this Monday. Mostly just sleeping in. Even though our weather is no where near what it looks like in that photo.

Ewwww...

Damon's using a Ped-Egg and it is SO grossing me out.

Weekend Update

Friday:
- Another kick in the face at work. Rainy day schedule. Exhaustion.
- Chinese New Year dinner with both sets of parents at New Capital. Good food. Not too many uncomfortable silences. Very exhausted.
- Missed CC's bday party when I realized I wasn't up to driving in the rain. :( Such an angeleno.

Saturday:
- Slept in until 8 a.m. Gorgeous!
- Hung out at home for awhile relaxing, then started a deep cleaning of the master bath with hubby's help. AWESOME.
- After the bathroom was shining and spotless, went to run a few errands.
- Met up with J who finally came back from the square state. Nordstrom Rack, Ikea, and dinner at Outback Steakhouse. I am a pig.

Sunday:
- Woke up early. House hunting. All duds. :(
- Napping at home, laundry, usual Sunday stuff.
- Dinner with my parents. Yum.
- Getting ready for parent conference week. *Sigh*

Am freezing!

This made my day bearable!

Thursday, February 05, 2009

pfffft.

Hello, I'm not a doormat. So back off, f*ckers. I did the doormat thing last time, I'm not interested in doing it again, no way. I'm better than that. I'm worth more than that. Don't treat me like crap and think its okay, it's never okay to treat anyone with so little disrespect.

One day I will learn not to be intimidated by my voice. One day I hope I have the self-confidence to stand up for myself without anyone telling me that I should. Because if I don't speak up for myself, no one will.
